Young Liverpool midfielder John Welsh captained the England under-20 side to victory last night against the Tunisia under-20 team in the Toulon tournament.
Welsh was involved in the second England goal, finding Bradley Wright-Phillips who offloaded to Wayne Routledge. Routledge drove the ball home from 20 yards. Newcastle’s Darren Ambrose had opened the scoring.
England now face Portugal on Saturday and South Korea on Monday.
