Following on from congratulations earlier from 10 Downing Street, Liverpool’s amazing heroes have now received praise from Buckingham Palace.
Her Majesty The Queen was in Canada on an official visit when Liverpool were impressing the world of football and becoming European Champions. Her spokesman said that she didn’t see the game due to her duties, but that she was told the result this morning as she arrived back in the UK.
The message was sent to Liverpool’s chairman – David Moores – via the City of Liverpool’s Lord Lieutenant.
The Queen said: “Congratulations on your remarkable win last night. It was a magnificent achievement which will be remembered for many years both in Liverpool and across the country.”
