The long-awaited announcement of arrangements for the sale of Champions League tickets was made by Liverpool FC earlier today.
Liverpool were allocated a total of 20,031 tickets for the game by UEFA. Liverpool have chosen to reward fans who attended Champions League games with access to the tickets. Fans must have been to a minimum of six of Liverpool’s 14 Champions League games this season.
The club were criticised by supporters over the arrangement for the selling of tickets for the Chelsea fixture, and so have acted on this by staggering the sale of tickets. The sale starts on Tuesday (tomorrow) and is open to season ticket holders who’ve got evidence of attending at least eight Champions League games. In other words they will have had to have attended at least one away fixture.
The following day, Wednesday May 11th, is for non-season-ticket holding fans who have evidence of attending a minimum of eight Champions League games – again by default this means they’ve attended at least one away fixture.
The sale continues until Sunday – season ticket holders with proof of seven games and six games get their ticket chances on Thursday and Saturday respectively. Non season ticket-holders get their chances if they’ve evidence of seven and six games on Friday and Sunday respectively.
Tickets prices vary considerably – the lowest priced are just £15 each, with the most expensive announced being £106.
The club have tried to avoid the problems that occurred prior to the last match, where fans were queuing for hours. The more games you’ve been to the sooner you get to collect a ticket – and not everyone will be able to have a ticket due to the limited number available.
