Sunday Paper Talk

If you decide to go out and buy a paper today you’ll have to deal with stories on the Royal wedding, the General Election and Liverpool’s defeat at Manchester City yesterday. There’s also the usual gossip, and to save you the agony of having to read the aforementioned stuff first, here’s a quick round-up.

The People say that Luis Figo wants to join a Premiership club next season. Liverpool are named as being interested, along with Tottenham and Newcastle.

Spurs are obviously saving money on scouting by using the same scouts. The News of the World says that both clubs are showing interest in the Auxerre midfielder Bonaventure Kalou.

Michael Owen was quoted earlier in the week as being open to a move back to Anfield.He also pointed out he doesn’t want to be on the bench as much in the future. Now various newspapers say that he’ll be back as a Liverpool player next season.

Jamie Redknapp – former Liverpool captain – is said by the Sunday Mirror to be prepared to pledge himself to Southampton for the future. That’s if Southampton stay up. He may well be joined by a former team-mate at Anfield – Patrick Berger – according to the Star.
