This version of the stadium plans was first released in July 2007, for an opening date of July 2010. In December 2007 it was announced the plans were too expensive, having come in at £100m more than was expected. Replacement plans were revealed in January 2007, and although still impressive and a massive improvement on the plans inherited at takeover time, the whole event had been a massive PR disaster.
