Poll: Should Roy Hodgson be sacked now?

Liverpool Football Club have new owners; they inherited a manager who has overseen an extremely poor start to the season. Many players are understood to be unhappy with Roy Hodgson or with his tactics and coaching methods.

Stories of player unrest combined with poor and embarrassing results have led to calls from many fans for Hodgson to be sacked.
What should happen with Roy?
Top players have been considering their futures and it would be understandable if top-quality targets felt the current set-up under Roy Hodgson just wasn’t for them. Champions League qualification is already close to being written off and with it another selling point that could have been used to retain or attract top players.

No Liverpool supporter wants to see protests in the ground against the manager but with chants of “Dalglish” having already begun in response to poor results and performances under Hodgson it may only be a matter of time before we get to that stage.

Should the manager go now or should the club stick with him for the time being? Roy still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract.

  1. Sorry, but YES, he’s the wrong man for the job! Bring in ONeill’s passion and spirit to make these players play at the top of their game!

  2. Get him out now and get in Dalglish or Hiddink before he completely alienataes every single player we’ve got left. He’s clearly alienated Reina and Torres. The man is a mid table team guy – not a winner by any means.

  3. I KNOW MR HENRY DOSN’T WANT T MAKE ANY RASH DECISONS BUT IF HE HAS A QUICK LOOK AT OUR HISTORY HE WILL SEE WE DONT CALL FOR THE MANAGERS HEAD EN MASSE AND CERTAINLY NOT AFTER A FEW MONTHS IF HES UNSURE WE ARE NOT AND WE KNOW MORE THAN HIM AND IS FELLOW NESV MEMBERS AND ROY AND WE ALL SAY HE SHOULD GO NOW BEFORE HE CAUSES TO MUCH DAMAGE. PLEASE JOHN TOM AND FELLOW BOARD MEMBERS LISTEN TO THE FANS.

  4. Jim, I was able to vote more than once. Should that be possible?

1truered, caps lock off please. It’s considered shouting and difficult to read.

  5. Wrong man for the job – not just in terms of results – his approach is his major crime against LFC. Hoofball, deep defensive line, handing the initiative to the opposition. No possession and no attacking gameplan. Players at fault for everything, no managerial responsibility.

Put it this way – if only the players are to blame for Blackpool, Northampton, Everton and Stoke, then only the players get the credit for Chelsea.

  6. Grubb,

Well put, I agree with your assesment. I’ve been saying it from day one, He is not LFC calibre. And there are still fans on the ECHO telling folks like us to get behind the team. I mean seriously we are backing the team by spotting incompetence.

  7. Thanks Jim. I didn’t change my vote. Jim, who would you like to take control if / when Roy goes? Would we get the best man mid-season? Would there be a better choice next summer?
