FC Utrecht v Liverpool – Travel Information
One of Liverpool’s opponents in the Europa League group stage is FC Utrecht of Holland on September 30, and fortunately it’s not as hard to get to as Trabzon, so we have compiled the following on how to get there; including train times to and from Utrecht.
Flying from Liverpool to Amsterdam seems the easiest option; however EasyJet have gotten wind of everyone looking to book cheap flights on the dates around the game and bumped up their prices accordingly, so flying from Manchester with KLM is the cheapest option.
Utrecht is only 30 minutes by train from both Amsterdam Central and Amsterdam Schipol, so getting there shouldn’t be a problem.
For those flying from London, there are a couple of flights from Luton, Gatwick and Stanstead listed below.

Once you are in Amsterdam, the best way to Utrecht is to get the train, which operates frequently from Amsterdam Schipol (Airport) and from Amsterdam Centraal. It takes approximately 30 minutes from both stations to Utrecht Centraal, which is the nearest station to the stadium.

The main place to get a few drinks in is Oudegracht (the canal that runs through the centre of Utrecht); there are plenty of pubs and bars, specifically Ledig Erf which has a large outdoor seating area, or Stadskasteel Oudaen who have their own brewery to create local beers. Kafé België has nearly 200 different beers available, or if you’re after a sports bar there’s Mick Connel’s Irish bar.
If you don’t fancy spending the day in Utrecht, you can spend the day in Amsterdam and head down to the train station when you want to go to the game.
Below is a guide as to how many Euros you get for your pounds Stirling:
- £5 – €6
- £10 – €12
- £20 – €24
- £50 – €60

You will need to take a bus or a taxi from the train station because it is too far to walk!
Thanks magnumopus.
I haven’t arranged it but I’m flying from Doncaster return for less than £80. Not sure how prices are now. Hope it helps someone.
Hello guys,
I am a Napoli supporter and can’t wait to watch our game in november at Anfield…
Can I just ask u how do i get to the stadium?
what is the best station?
thank u very much
Hi there,
A word from a Utrechtfan.
Please note that “de oudegracht” is very long (about 2.5km) so if you wanna go there you have to go near the cityhall.
It’s very nice there but the real place to be is at “De Neude””
It’s a big square, not very far from the cityhall. Lots of bars and pubs(and coffee/weedshops) and Utrecht fans as well (hoping that it is possible to drink a beer together!!)
If you want to go to Ledig Erf as mentioned above please note that it is at the end of the oudegracht.
If you decide to go there, then you might as well walk to the stadium (about 15 mins)
Best way though is to take the bus from Utrecht Central Station. On match days there will go a bus every 2 minutes.
When you’re in the stadium you’re probably amazed about the atmosphere. It’s not Feyenoord or ajax who have the best singing crowd, No, that’s us !!
I’ll hope you enjoy your stay with us just as much as I’m looking forward to it to go Anfield Road and the atmosphere there. Heard a lot about is, and now, we’re finally gonna experience it in december.
Many greetings from a big Utreg fan
Alex
