Rest in Peace. The ninety-six

Twenty years ago today ninety-six of our supporters went to see a game of football. They never came home again, their lives cruelly and needlessly taken from them.

Ninety-six who will never be forgotten. Ninety-six who will never walk alone.

Rest in peace.

  1. I thought that the silence and applause today was very moving.

I have such sympathy for those families.

    YNWA.

  2. The 96 will not walk alone.

Time will tell and the truth will out

    JUSTICE WILL BE DONE

Old rivalries can be laid aside whilst the campaign for justice continue.

And let successive governments of this country hang there heads in shame for the cowards thar they are.

  3. Justice cannot be silenced.

In loving memory of the 96.

Forever in our hearts and forever in our minds.

    You will never walk alone.

  4. “Justice is truth in action.” – Benjamin Disraeli

Ninety-six souls deserve the dignity of truth and justice. However long that takes, you will never walk alone.

  5. 20 years later, glazed-eyes and disbelief still persist. I hope justice for the 96 and all their family and friends sees the light, long before another decade or two elapses.

I was sat in hospital on wednesday with my aunt at my grandfather’s bedside as he was told his last days were nigh. Personal sadness and despair gripped us all but even at this time my aunt – a non-football follower/fan – shook her head that these past 20 years had gone so fast. We knew however that this was not the case for their loved ones.

I look forward to being at Anfield on Tuesday to pay my own personal respects.

  6. Really sorry to hear about that midlands-red – I hope that they can make your grandfather’s last days as comfortable as possible. You and your family are in our thoughts.

  7. Thank you.

Tears roll but pride and memories will live long.

He will die a natural death after a very long and productive life.

The 96 were denied that and their family and friends a chance to say goodbye. There’s no justice in that nor the way they’ve been treated since.
