LFC fans’ charity night for Zoe’s Place

UPDATED: Change of venue!

Please note that the function will now take place at The Clarence Hotel, Utting Avenue, Anfield, L4 8SX.

Zoes PlaceLiverpool FC fans’ website and forum, LFCReds.com, have arranged a charity night at The Sandon next month, with proceeds going to Zoe’s Place Children’s Hospice.

The Sandon is of course part of Liverpool’s history, from the earliest days including the run-up to the actual formation of the Club by its original board members, to a well-publicised if a little overplayed visit by one of the Club’s current board members earlier this year.

Zöe’s Place Liverpool was the first baby hospice in the UK, until a second Zöe’s place opened in Middlesbrough in 2004. Another Zöe’s place is due to open soon in Coventry, such has been the success. They provide 24-hour one-to-one respite and palliative nursing care for children from birth to five-year-old who are suffering from life-threatening or life-limiting conditions.

The Liverpool hospice, in West Derby, can accommodate up to six infants at a time, although they have far more children on their books than that – 45 at the last count according to the Zoe’s Place website.

The charity night itself will be an opportunity for Reds to meet up and have a drink, and there’s a buffet too to help soak some of that drink up. There’ll also be a disco, so you can either dance or protest strongly that you don’t dance. A bit like going to a family wedding do, without having to put up with the bit of the family you aren’t keen on. And as an extra bonus there’s even going to be a live act so it should be a great night.

On top of that there are some excellent raffle prizes on offer, including a Steven Gerrard signed Liverpool shirt, a Michael Owen signed England shirt, a trip around Anfield for 4 people (not just a wander around the outside of the stadium of course) , some Liverpool FC DVDs, and “much more”.

There’s already been a donation of £250 from Greggs the bakers to Zöe’s place in advance of the event, but the more people can support this night the better. And if you can’t make the function, maybe you can afford to make a donation anyway. Details in a moment.

Tickets are £6, plus an extra 40p for the stamp and the envelope, so a total of £6.40. Going back to the comparison with a family wedding, that’s far cheaper than the present you’d have to turn up with, and you’d not have a chance of winning a Steven Gerrard signed shirt. Well, not for most family wedding anyway.

The details for payment, plus a link to further forum posts, can be found on the LFCReds.com website here.

If you do want to go, the sooner you can buy a ticket the better, to give the organisers an idea of the numbers.

It all takes place at 7.30pm on Saturday 14th June, at the Acorn Suites at The Sandon, which is on Oakfield Road in Liverpool, and it should finish around 1am.

If all that information just isn’t enough for you, you can contact the organisers Graham, May or Vicky through the LFCReds forum. Vicky has also supplied her email address, which is smigger15 @ hotmail.com.
