Agger out for up to five weeks with broken hand

There was bad news for Liverpool last night when young centre-back Daniel Agger broke his hand playing for Denmark. Although Liverpool's medical staff will have a closer look as soon as he arrives back at Melwood, he's likely to be in plaster for up to five weeks and will miss this weekend's visit of Blackburn to Anfield.

Agger was part of the side that beat Liechtenstein 4-0.

Rafa will be fuming about this – international fixtures are causing him interruptions he feels are unnecessary – and that's without injuries. Now Agger will be forced to sit in the stands to watch Liverpool next few games, and he'll be joined by Dutch striker Dirk Kuyt who damaged ankle ligaments playing for his country on Saturday. Kuyt is expected to be out for two weeks.

Those two injuries are the ones we know about, Rafa will also be waiting with dread this morning on the return of the rest of the international stars in case any arrive home with knocks that will stop them playing.
