Rafael Benitez has sent out one of his occasional emails to supporters today, although there were unfortunately no exclusive pieces of insider information in it. Rafa talked mainly about how he was delighted with Saturday’s result against Spurs, and in particular for Harry Kewell who got the winner.
Rafa (or his ghost-writer) wrote of Saturday’s match: "We had a couple of opportunities in the first half and some more in the second, while I think Spurs only had a couple. It was nice to see Harry’s volley go in and then we defended properly to make sure we kept the result.
"It was important for Harry to score after the injury problems he’s had. For that goal to come at the Kop end is even better for him. He is training well every day and repeating games. He is playing at the level we know he is capable of."
Rafa also looked forward to this weekend’s clash with big rivals Manchester United. If Liverpool win the match they could go two points ahead of United and would still have two games in hand. Rafa says: "We have an important group of games coming up now against sides around us in the table, starting this weekend against Manchester United. If we can get good results from these games then we will be well placed to keep our position towards the top of the table. That’s our aim."
