Liverpool have finally completed the signing of Daniel Agger from Danish side Brondby.
Rafael BenÃtez had been tracking the player since the summer, and will be delighted that the 21-year-old has now signed for the club. Agger has signed a contract keeping him at the club until summer 2010, and has been handed the number 5 shirt.
The official Liverpool FC website confirmed the transfer this morning: “Rafael Benitez’s search for a new centre half is over after the Reds today confirmed the signing of Daniel Agger from Brondby on a four and a half year contract.
The highly rated Danish defender becomes Benitez’s second major signing of the transfer window after Jan Kromkamp’s arrival last week.
“The 21 year old centre back completed his medical yesterday and officially put pen to paper on his new Liverpool contract this morning. He will wear squad number 5 at Anfield.
“Agger will train with his new team-mates at Melwood today as the Reds prepare for Saturday’s Premiership clash with Tottenham.”
