Liverpool have been drawn away from home against Portsmouth in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Portsmouth were the team that knocked Liverpool out of the cup in Gerard Houllier’s last season as Liverpool boss. The two sides drew 1-1 in the fifth round at Anfield in February 2004, and Liverpool were then beaten 1-0 in the replay a week later.
The team for the Anfield fixture included a good few faces that are still at the club, with Jerzy Dudek, Jamie Carragher, Sami Hyypia, Steve Finnan, Steven Gerrard, Dietmar Hamann and Harry Kewell all starting that day.
Liverpool were awarded two penalties during the replay. One was awarded and then taken away after the referee consulted his assistant; the other was missed by Michael Owen. Harry Redknapp was Portsmouth manager at the time during his first spell with the club, Gerard Houllier was coming to the end of his spell as manager of the Reds.
