Zenden’s off to USA, his season is over

Liverpool confirmed yesterday that summer-signing Bolo Zenden is looking unlikely to play again for Liverpool this season as he heads out to the USA for treatment on the cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The player was injured right near the end of the recent Champions League fixture against Real Betis at Anfield, and will now visit renowned specialist Dr Richard Steadman. Based  in Colarado, the doctor has treated former Reds Jamie Redknapp, Patrik Berger and Richie Partridge in the past. He also treated Manchester United captain Roy Keane and the player he confessed to setting out to hurt, former Manchester City player Alfie Haaland.

Zenden will be undergoing surgery and as a result looks set for a long lay-off. A Liverpool spokesman said: "Unfortunately, it is unlikely that Bolo will play again this season."
