Du the Dudek by the Trophy Boyz is gaining in popularity. It’s no surprise, the song is one of those you can’t get out of your head once you hear it, and thanks to the lyrics that take us back to the glory of May 25th, it’s one that you just want to keep shouting.
Publicity for the song is improving as more and more people start to take note – the band have been interviewed on BBC Five Live, they’ve been featured on "Granada Reports" (the regional program for ITV1 in the North West) and even the official Liverpool FC site have publicised the song.
Although the song has been played elsewhere on radio, this week it made the major breakthrough of getting played on Radio 1. The co-presenter of the afternoon Radio 1 show, Colin Murray (pictured left), is a big Liverpool fan and played it on the show. Murray recently got a Liverpool tattoo done in recognition of the European success – he had five stars tattoed onto his arm. More details on the Radio One website – but to be honest, downloading the single and perhaps buying a T-shirt is a less painful way of celebrating the success!
If you do download the song (details below) then print these lyrics off and pass them round to everyone at your next barbecue.:
Come on and do the Dudek
Do the Jerzy Dudek
Shake it, shake it, move it
Jump up and wave your gloves!
We’re the one and only
Euro Campione
Who get to keep the trophy
The rest aint good enough!
One night in Turkey
Some lads from the Mersey
They never gave up the fight
We went bananas
Sons and their fathers
As they set the city alight
Oh-oh-eeay-oh…eeay-oh
Carragher’s brilliant advice
Oh-oh-eeay-oh…eay-oh
Eeeay-oh-oh-oh
Come on and do the Dudek
Do the Jerzy Dudek
Shake it, shake it, move it
Jump up and wave your gloves!
We’re the one and only
Euro Campione
Who get to keep the trophy
The rest aint good enough!
At 3-nil we were stuffed
We thought it was all over
But come the second half
We played them off the park!
Stevie…Steve Gerrard
Ee-zey…He’s in command
Oh-oh-eeay-oh…eay-oh
Grobbelaar’s come back to life
Oh-oh-eeay-oh…eay-oh
Eeeay-oh-oh-oh
Come on and do the Dudek
Do the Jerzy Dudek
Shake it, shake it, move it
Jump up and wave your gloves!
We’re the one and only
Euro Campione
Who get to keep the trophy
The rest aint good enough!
When we scored three in six
The Mersey boyz were laughing
Then Jerzey’s double save
And we’re back from the grave!
Eu-ro…Cam-pio-ne!!
Heroes… of the Mersey
Come on and do the Dudek
Do the Jerzy Dudek
Shake it, shake it, move it
Jump up and wave your gloves!
We’re the one and only
Euro Campione
Who get to keep the trophy
The rest ain’t good enough!
