Liverpool’s next big match in Europe, regardless of what UEFA say about the Champions League entry regulations for next season, will be three months from today when they play in the UEFA Super Cup.
Although nowhere near as big as the Champions League, the trophy is the European equivalent of the Champions League. Liverpool, as European Champions, face CSKA Moscow, as UEFA Cup Winners.
The match will be played in Monaco on August 26th.
CSKA had their first ever success in Europe when they beat Sporting 3-1 last week in the UEFA Cup final.
Liverpool last competed for this cup in 2001, when they beat Bayern Munich 3-2 at Stade Louis II on 24th August of that year.
