Champions League finalists Liverpool announced more of their plans for the new season yesterday.
It has already been revealed that Liverpool’s pre-season training will begin earlier than normal, on June 27th. After spending some time at Melwood Benitez wants to take his team overseas for more training, possibly in Switzerland. Now Liverpool’s players are set for a trip to Japan for two fixtures.
The two teams they will face are Shimizu S-Pulse. Shimizu are one of the J-League’s top teams, and used to be managed by Ossie Ardiles. This takes place on July 27 in the Nihondaira Stadium.
The Reds next game will be on July 30th against Kashima Antlers at the Kashima Stadium. They’ll then return to England the following day.
Liverpool’s last visits to Japan were in 1983 and 1984 when they contested the World Club Championship.
