Everton today managed a 1-1 draw with Birmingham at home today in their early kick-off. Ex-red Emile Heskey – always a Liverpool fan – scored the opener for Birmingham after five minutes. The midlands team hung on until five minutes from the end when Duncan Ferguson scored an equaliser.
Liverpool are now four points behind Everton having played the same number of games. Liverpool kick-off in London in half-an-hour, and need victory to put pressure on Everton, who will then have a game-in-hand again.
Liverpool’s Wednesday night opponent’s Chelsea moved closer to the league title with a victory over Fulham. Depending on other results they could already be Champions by the time Wednesday’s game is played. Arsenal need to beat Tottenham on Monday to keep things open.
