Luis Garcia scored a goal that will be on many a club video that comes out featuring Liverpool in years to come. In fact it will likely appear on many "best goals" videos at many levels – best Champions League goal, best goal by a Spaniard, and so on.
Garcia has recently become a father for the first time, but says it’s thoughts of winning the Champions League itself that has been causing him sleepless nights.
The Spaniard is having an exciting time right now, making his international debut over Easter, scoring important goals, and of course they joy of being a new dad. He said: "My son knows his daddy needs rest and I am lucky that he is allowing me to sleep right through. There is a good chance he will grow up with a scouse accent as well."
About Liverpool’s chances, he said: "I have to admit I have been lying awake at night and I have allowed myself to think about us winning the Champions League. We have players who are good enough to do it and we only have to look at Monaco and Porto last year to realise what can be achieved."
He says he is settling into his new life in England. "I am really enjoying it at Liverpool. I am settling in more and more. My family are over now and I have bought a house."
Garcia thinks he can bring even more to his game in England: "I am not sure I have had a best game for Liverpool yet. I have had moments when I have played to my level and done good things, but there have always been little things I would have done differently. I was pleased with how I did against Juventus and the goal was one of the best I have scored. It was a good result for us."
Liverpool fans are hoping for more goals and more of Garcia’s trademark "thumb-sucking" goal celebrations.
