Reserves lose but Alonso makes comeback

Liverpool reserves went down to a 1-0 defeat against Leeds reserves tonight, but it wasn’t all bad news. Midfield star Xabi Alonso played 45 minutes of the game, played at Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground.

Alonso broke his ankle against Chelsea on New Year’s Day. He was on the
bench for last night’s Champions League game against Juventus, but
wasn’t risked. He played the whole of second half and came through without any problems and should be
available to start Saturday’s Premiership game against Manchester City.

Chris Jones scored the Leeds goal after 27 minutes.

Liverpool Reserves: Harrison, Hitchen (Alonso, 45), Raven, O’Donnell,
Whitbread, Mannix, Partridge, Welsh, Platt, Potter, Wilkie.

Leeds United Reserves: Ilic, McKeown, Morris, Rothery, Keegan, Parker, Gray, Jones, Corr, Smith,  Woods
