Half-time. The domination of the first half hour from Liverpool subsided towards the end of the first half, but Liverpool were still in control. Scott Carson was eventually called into action a couple of times, but wasn’t phased by anything. The second half may be different, once both coaches have had time to talk to their players, but Juve would not have been expecting to be two goals down at half time. Fitness may play a part for Liverpool.
30 minutes – excellent save from Scot Carson, but the shot from Juve’s del Pierro was very much against the run of play.
25 minutes – Goal! 2-0 Liverpool. Another excellent goal from Liverpool – Luis Garcia on the half-volley from outside the box, from a good Le Tallec ball. 20 minutes gone – domination so far from Liverpool, Scott Carson has barely touched the ball.
10 minutes – Goal! 1-0 Liverpool. Well taken volley from Sami Hyypia sees Liverpool go ahead 1-0. Hyypia hasn’t played for the last few games after losing his place following an injury.
Rafa Benitez has named a team to try and go out and beat Juventus.Likely to be a 4-4-2 formation, Le Tallec and Baros set to start up-front. Scott Carson makes his Champions League debut, as it looks like Dudek was not quite fit enough to be risked. As expected, Hyypia returns to the heart of defence in place of the ineligible Pellegrino.
